Percival is a fascinating character in the Legends of King Arthur. Many scholars believe that Percival dates back to early Welsh Arthurian traditions where he may have been called Peredur, meaning ‘hard-steel spear.’ Either way, Percival is certainly a knight who had a true calling on his life. Likely of noble birth, Percival’s mother hides him away in the forest after the death of his father. Here, she attempts to protect him from all the ways of man, but at last it was not to be! One day, a group of knights travels through the woods and when Percival sees them he is enamored. He soon heads off to become a knight in King Arthur’s court, thereby fulfilling his destiny. Notably, Percival becomes one of just two knights to join Galahad in his successful pursuit of the Grail - a worthy accomplishment indeed!

This is the 6th pattern in a series of squares inspired by The Legends of King Arthur. You can find the other pattern in the series in my Ravelry store here: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/lisa-mauser

Please be warned - this pattern, like the legends themselves, is not for the faint of heart. It requires an INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED skill level. Specifically, this pattern features unusual center construction and numerous back and front posted stitches.
