This cowl is the last of a three-part series using the same stitch motifs, the other installments being a shawl and a scarf. Each design features strong vertical and horizontal lines, as well as subtle, delicate lace detail. Throughout the pattern, you alternate lace-weight and fingering-weight yarns to create an airy and lightweight FO, with stability provided by the i-cord edge.

Here is a link to the project page for the sample.

Dimensions: 36” around x 18” depth

Needles:

  • Size US 4/3.5 mm 42” circular knitting needles
  • Additional Size US 4/3.5 mm needle (any length, for the 3-needle BO)

Notions:

  • 20” waste yarn
  • Tapestry needle

Yarn :

  • Yarn A: 390 yds/355 m Lace weight yarn (recommended yarn with mohair blend) (sample used Yoshi & Lucy Rosa in colorway Twilight)
  • Yarn B: 410 yds/375 m Fingering weight yarn (sample used Yoshi & Lucy Isabel in colorway Twilight)

Gauge: 23 sts x 38 rows = 4” x 4” worked in garter ridge as below (lightly blocked):

  • Garter ridge pattern (worked flat): knit three rows, purl one row

  • Note: Gauge is not critical for this pattern, one of the biggest factors determining the dimensions of your FO is actually the tension of the i-cord edge. Keep this tension loose to block your wrap even larger if desired!
