Silky Wool makes this cardigan a three season sweater. The wool and silk yarn drapes beautifully and the two colors add a sportiness to the sweater. The upper part of the bodice, all of the trims and the collar (except for edging, worked in main color) are knitted in the contrast color. Closure of the sweater is accomplished by contrast color I cords. One loop of I cord circles a button on each front. This is repeated for two other sets of buttons
An inverted box pleat is knitted in the center of the back and a single pleat is knitted on each front. The pleat theme is carried to the lower edge of the sleeve, which sports a slightly smaller inverted box pleat.
Multiple techniques are utilized in the construction of this cardigan:
1-Provisional cast on using a smooth waste yarn and crochet cast on method.
2-Short rows in both stockinet and garter stitches.
3-Closure of the pleats using double point needles and knitting together three layers of knitted fabric.
4-Three needle bind off at the shoulder seams.
5-I Cord made on double point needles.
