This shawl is knit on a sideways bias in one piece to create an asymmetrical triangle with a curved top edge. There is a nice balance between floral lace panels and a garter stitch body, decorated by a color block panel on the edging of the shawl that makes it a fun project. The size of the shawl is easy to adapt with the help of the included customization notes.

RECOMMENDED YARN: suitable for this project are natural fiber yarns or yarns with a minimum synthetic content which can be blocked. The pictured shawl was knit from cotton, wool, merino wool and wool mixes with good results; this shawl looks great in both solid and variegated colors, either fingering, DK or sport weight yarn.

Finished size may vary depending on your yarn choice, needle size, knitting tension and personal knitting style. The total number of repeats chosen will also change the size of the shawl.

SIZE: the sample shawl has the following measurements: Length across the top edge: 160 cm / 62”; Depth at widest part: 46 cm / 18”.
YARN: the sample shawl was knitted with 120 g of Berroco Vintage DK - 52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon, 290 yds (266 m) |100 g. Yardage used: 330.6 yds (302.3 m), 114 g.
Main Color (MC): 266.8 yards (244.0 m) |92 g
Contrast Color (CC): 63.8 yards (58.3 m) |22 g
Colorways: MC – Rhubarb, CC – Red.
BEADS: size 6, 126 pcs | 10 g. NUPPS: 11 pcs | 2.4 yds (2.2 m)| 0.8 g.
GAUGE: 22 sts x 28 rows = 10 cm (4”), square in stockinette st, measured after wet blocking. Gauge is not important, but will affect the final size of the shawl and the amount of yarn needed.
NEEDLES AND CROCHET HOOKS: I used the circular needles US 4/3.5 mm for the shawl and US 3/3.25 mm for binding off the edge. Suggested Knitting Needle: 4.00 mm, US 6. Crochet hook: 0.6 mm for placing the beads.
MATERIALS: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends; blocking pins and / or blocking wires; stitch markers – optional.
