Petticoat Socks
The Petticoat Socks are knitted cuff down, with a central lace motif, the Petticoat motif, on the front of the sock all through the leg and foot. When you finish the sock you can add a cute ruffle with crochet to finish the romantic look of the design. This is completely optional.
The design is a 28 stitches by 16 rows repeat.
Perfect for experience lace knitters and beginners alike.
The socks are knitted with one strand of merino and one strand of mohair held together to reinforce the socks without using synthetic fibers. I used the lovely Merino and Mohair from Infi hilados en “Natural” and “Pastel Rainbow”.
I do not provide written instructions for the chart as it is a very easy to follow design.
The socks are available in 3 sizes: small, medium and large for better calf adaptability. The length of the leg and foot are adjustable.
The heel is a German short row heel that doesn’t compete with the Petticoat motif and the ruffle.
You will need 2,5 mm needles (US 1.5) in whichever format you prefer, this pattern doesn’t instruct you to use any specific technique.
Just keep in mind that if you use 9” circulars for your socks, you will need to change to magic loop for the toe.
The crochet ruffle uses a 3,5 mm hook and one strand of mohair.
The gauge is in stockinette stitch.
The pattern is available in Spanish and English.
I hope you enjoy it!
