Phoenix Pathways MKAL
What if your next project didn’t just grow stitch by stitch—but story by story?
Phoenix Pathways project is a modular, DK-weight shawl worked one segment, one flame, one transformation at a time (no assembly required).
Originally released as a Mystery Knit-Along (MKAL) in early 2026, the complete design has been thoughtfully compiled into a single, fully tested and tech-edited PDF. All six segments are presented in order, allowing you to experience the journey at your own pace. While the mystery element has been removed, the reflective themes and story structure remain woven throughout the pattern for those who wish to engage with them.
This Project Is For You If…
• You’ve ever unraveled something—on the needles or in life
• You love designs with rich meaning and evolving structure
• You’re ready to create something beautiful, one step at a time
Yarn Requirements: DK weight, 6 colors, ~245 yds each; Variegated, solid, or tonal in 6 distinct colors or a 6-skein fade
The only caveat: Color 6 should have decent contrast with the other five colors, regardless of how subtle or bold your overall palette is. If you love the six colors together and Color 6 stands at least slightly apart, the design will shine.
Can you use fingering weight instead? Sure! One of my testers did, in fact. The overall dimensions will be a bit smaller, but you’ll still end up with a good-sized scarf as this one is very generously sized to start.
Finished Measurements
Approximately 24” deep at center × 88” wingspan
(61 cm x 224 cm)
Need help choosing your colors? The PDF contains some curated palettes from my own stash to inspire you. And if you’d like help sourcing yarn, I’ve put together a Favorite Dyers page featuring indie makers whose work I truly love and trust.
