This is a Pattern for a cute little Pidgey from Pokemon!

You will need….

  • A 4.25 mm Crochet Hook
  • 2 Doll Eyes
  • A Needle to sew together
  • 3 different colors of yarn (Brown, Tan, and Pink)
  • Toy stuffing

Notes
The number of stitches at the end of a round refers to single crochets only and does not include chains or slip stitches and join each round together.

Body-The body is made from the bottom up.
Start with Brown yarn and chain 3. Insert your hook into the first stitch and do a slip stitch creating a circle.
Chain up 1. Do 6 single crochets(SC) into the middle of the circle. Slip stitch into the first SC (6 stitches)
Chain up 1. Do 2 SC into each stitch from the previous round. Slip stitch into the first SC (12 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (1 SC in first stitch, 2 SC in next stitch) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into first stitch. (18 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (1 SC in first 2 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into first stitch. (24 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (1 SC in first 3 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into first stitch. (30 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (1 SC in first 4 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into first stitch. (36 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (1 SC in first 5 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into first stitch. (42 stitches)
Chain up 1. 1 SC in each stitch. Repeat this for 4 rounds slip stitching into the first stitch at the end of each round. (42 stitches)
Shaping the body. Chain up 1. SC 5, Single Crochet 2 stitches together (SC2tog), SC 5, SC2tog, SC 26, SC2tog, slip stitch into first stitch. (39 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 4, SC2tog, SC 4, SC2tog, SC 25, SC2tog, slip stitch into first stitch. (36 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 3, SC2tog, SC 3, SC2tog, SC 24, SC2tog, slip stitch into first stitch. (33 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 2, SC2tog, SC 2, SC2tog, SC 23, SC2tog, slip stitch into first stitch. (30 stitches)
Chain up 1. 1 SC in each stitch. Repeat this for 4 rounds Slip stitching into the first stitch at the end of each round. (30 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC 3, SC2tog) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into the first stitch. (24 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC 2, SC2tog) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into the first stitch. (18 stitches)
Stop, stuff body, and attach toy eyes in desired position.
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC 1, SC2tog) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into the first stitch. (12 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC2tog) until you get to the end of the round. Slip stitch into the first stitch. (6 stitches)
Fasten Off and add additional stuffing if needed to get to desired firmness.

Face-
Using brown yarn, Chain 4
Skip the stitch closest to your hook and SC in the other 3.
SC 3 for 8 rows doing a chain of 1 between rows to get proper shape
Chain up 1 (if you haven’t already). SC in first stitch, (Chain 3, SC in 3 chains), SC in middle stitch, (Chain 4, SC in 4 chains), SC in middle stitch, (Chain 3, SC in 3 chains), SC in last stitch, fasten off
Attach tan to bottom side of brown piece with a slip stitch and chain one.
8 SC along edge for each of the SC rows you completed, chain 5, SC in 5 chains, fasten off. (Repeat on both sides)
Attach to the middle of the face portion of the body in between the eyes you attached. Do not sew on the fluffy feathers that you made at the top of the face piece.

Belly-
With tan yarn, Chain 8, skip the stitch closest to your hook and SC Into the other 7 (7 stitches)
Chain 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 5, 2 SC in last stitch (9 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 9 (9 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. SC2tog, SC 5, SC2tog. (7 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. SC2tog, SC 3, SC2tog. (5 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 3, 2 SC in last stitch. (7 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 5, 2 SC in last stitch. (9 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 7, 2 SC in last stitch. (11 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, Repeat (Chain 3, SC in 3 chains, SC in next stitch) to last stitch and add a second SC in last stitch. (13 stitches plus 8 feathers for chest)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 11 (ensuring you are going behind the feathers so that they will stick out when you sew it on), 2 SC in last stitch. (15 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 13, 2 SC in last stitch. (17 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SC in first stitch, SC 15, 2 SC in last stitch. (19 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. 19 SC across. Repeat this row 3 times. (19 stitches)
Chain up 1 and turn. We are now doing to decrease down to 1 stitch over a few rows. SC across until you get to the middle 3 stitches, SC3tog, single crochet across to the end of the row. Repeat this row until you are down to 3 stitches only and SC3tog, Fasten off.
Sew to front of body overlapping the face piece you made placing the top underneath the eyes.

Nose-
With pink yard chain 3 and slip stitch into first stitch creating a circle. Chain up 1 and SC 6 times into the circle. Slip stitch into first SC. (6 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC 1, 2 SC in next stitch) until end of round. Slip stitch into first SC. (9 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 9. Slip stitch into first SC. (9 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC 1 in to first 2 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch) until end of round. Slip stitch into first SC. Fasten off. (12 stitches)
Stuff nose if needed and then attach to face.

Wings-Make 2
With brown yarn chain 3. Slip stitch into first chain creating a circle. Chain up 1 and SC 6 times into circle. Slip stitch into first SC. (6 stitches)
Chain up 1. Put 2 SC into each stitch. Slip stitch into first SC. (12 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 12. Slip stitch into first SC.
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC in first stitch, 2 SC in next stitch) until end of round. Slip stitch into first SC. (18 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 18. Slip stitch into first SC. Do 2 rows like this. (18 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC in first 2 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch) until end of round. Slip stitch into first SC. (24 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 8, Repeat (Chain 3, SC in 3 chains, SC in next stitch) 8 total times, SC 8, Slip stitch into first SC. (24 stitches and 8 feathers)
Change to tan. Chain up 1. SC 24 and ensure you go behind the feathers. Slip stitch into first SC. (24 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC in 2 stitches, SC2tog) until end of round. Slip stitch into first SC. (18 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 18. Slip stitch into first SC. (18 stitches)
Chain up 1. Repeat (SC in first stitch, SC2tog) until end of round. Slip stitch into first SC. (12 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 12. Slip stitch into first SC. (12 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 4, Repeat (Chain 3, SC in 3 Chains, Sc in next stitch) 4 total times, SC 4. Slip stitch into first SC. (12 stitches and 4 feathers)
Chain up 1. SC2tog across round ensuring you go behind the feathers.
Sew bottom together so it looks kind of pointy. DO NOT STUFF.
Sew each wing onto each side of body.

Tail-
With brown yarn chain 10. Skip stitch closest to hook and SC in other 9.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 9.
Left side of tail
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 3 and leave remaining stitches unworked.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 2 and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 4.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 3 and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 5.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 4 and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 6.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 5 and 2 SCs in last stitch. Fasten off.
Right side of tail
Attach to rightmost stitch of original base SC 9 with a slip stitch
Chain up 1. SC 3 and leave middle 2 stitches unworked.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 2 and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 4.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 3 and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 5.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 4 and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 6.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 5 and 2 SCs in last stitch. Fasten off.
Middle of tail
Attach to remaining rightmost stitch of base SC 9 with a slip stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 3.
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SCs in first stitch, SC 1, and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 5.
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SCs in first stitch, SC 3, and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 7.
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SCs in first stitch, SC 5, and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 9.
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SCs in first stitch, SC 7, and 2 SCs in last stitch.
Chain up 1 and turn. SC 11.
Chain up 1 and turn. 2 SCs in first stitch, SC 9, and 2 SCs in last stitch. Fasten off.

Make two of these
Sew middles together then sew outer tail feathers on top.
Attach to butt of body without stuffing

Feet-
Legs (make 2)
With pink yarn chain 3. Slip stitch into first chain creating a circle. Chain up 1 and SC 6 times into circle. Slip stitch into first SC. (6 stitches)
Chain up 1. SC 6. Slip stitch into first SC. Do 2 rows like this. Fasten off.
Feet (make 2)
With pink yarn Chain 3
SC in clostest stitch, (Chain 3, 2 sc in chains), SC in second stitch, (Chain 3, 2 sc in chains), SC in last stitch)
Turn work so the toes you made are facing away and work into the back of the base chain. SC into back of 3rd base chain, (Chain 3, 2 sc in chains) SC into back of 1st base chain, fasten off.
Attach feet to legs. Embroider toes in white or tan.
Attach top of legs to bottom of body.
