PIE CRUST BASKETWEAVE BABY WASHCLOTH

Yarn: I love this cotton - Hobby Lobby – approximately 1.4 oz for 8” washcloth

Needles: 3.75 mm or US 5 needles – results in a closer knit for babies

Gauge: 22 st/4 inches/10.1 cm (larger needles will yield a wider washcloth, but it will take more yarn)

Cast on: multiples of 12 plus 3. Cast on 45 for an 8” washcloth.

NOTES: This is a reverse pattern for a baby washcloth that has less purl and more knit stitches. The actual pattern will show up on the backside.
The k3 was kept for clarity at the beginning and end to designate a garter stitch border on both sides and was kept separately from the pattern, in case the border wasn’t wanted.
Slip the first stitch of every row purlwise to make a nice edge.
Start and end with 4 rows of knit at beginning and end of pattern to make a blanket, washcloth, etc, with a top and bottom border.
Long tail cast on on 45 stitches for an 8” washcloth. Use a longer cast on for a blanket or dishtowel.
