I wanted some non-slouchy knitted baskets. Something fast and easy that would hide the clutter in a cute way! I created these basket covers to fit $1 plastic tubs I had.

I knitted 5 separate pieces for the sides & bottom of the box. Then I seamed them together, and used a glue gun to attach it firmly all around the top of the box. I knitted with two strands of XL natura at once. Two balls was just enough for one basket.

Comparing yarn, I think 4 strands of Knit picks dishie, or 3 strands of bernat handicrafter cotton would be comparable. I don’t have gauge, but you can do a quick test knit of one small side and hold against your container. Adjust the pattern to fit when stretched.

This fits: Sterilite Box Container, 5.7 Litres (34.6 x 21 x 12.4cm)

I love my tubs, and they weren’t hard to make. Bonus is the lids still work, they snap on and off. I hope you enjoy my first pattern. These were a piece of Cake!
