As soon as I saw this yarn, I envisioned a chunky, cabled bag. I’ve borrowed the color way name, as I fell in love with this riot of colors and the softness of the merino wool that you expect from Malabrigo.

The bottom panel is knit flat, and then stitches are picked up around the sides so the body of the bag is knitted in the round. The easy cables are only every 10th row - you’ll be done in no time, but I can’t guarantee you won’t want to make another right away!

Finished size: Small bag (shown) is 13” wide at bottom of bag, 12” high and 3” deep;
Large bag is 16” wide at bottom of bag, 14 ½” high and 3 ½” deep
(Knitted height does not include handles.)

Yarn: Malabrigo Rasta, Color #862 Piedras (90 yds/82 meters per 5.25 oz/150 g), 2(3) skeins

Needles: US 11 / 8 mm, 24” circular for bottom of bag; US 13 / 9 mm, 24” circular for body of bag, or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Grayson E Hand-made Leather handles (Large Rolled 25” in Olive) distributed by Muench; ¾” magnetic sew-on clasp for inside of bag, optional 1 ¾” button for decoration

Gauges: 2 ½ sts = 1” in seed stitch on size 11 needles; 2 ½ sts = 1” in stockinette stitch on size 13 needles; each cable panel of 8 sts is 2 ½” wide
