Once upon a time there was a little piggy who looked up to the sky and saw the birds flying overhead. That night the little piggy, legs twitching in his sleep, had a dream that he could fly…

Inspired by a statue of a flying pig, the Pigasus Hat is available in 3 sizes and has 3 brim variations. The brim that includes the name chart has a ribbed section hidden underneath so the snugness of ribbing is maintained.

The hat can be made more or less slouchy by including or excluding the name chart from the body of the hat.

SIZES

To fit head circumference of approx.:
Child: 48cm to 51cm (19” to 20”)
Teen/Adult Small: 51cm to 54.5cm (20” to 21.5”)
Adult Medium/Large: 54.5cm to 58.5cm (21.5” to 23”)

Cover photo shows Adult Medium/Large size with fold up brim modelled on a man with head circumference of 58.5cm/23” and Teen/Adult Small size with name chart brim on a woman with head circumference of 54cm/21”. The pompom was made using a 6.5cm/2.5” pompom maker.

MATERIALS

Yarn: DK weight yarn in Main (MC) and Contrast (CC) colours. I used Spin DK 100% Superwash Merino from Wren & Ollie 230m/250 yds per 115g/4oz. MC Great Lake, CC Peach Pistachio

The Adult Medium/Large hat is shown with a fold up brim and used approx. 63g (126m, 138yds) MC and 18g (36m, 39yds) contrast colour.
The Teen/Adult Small hat is shown with the name chart with ribbing underneath brim option, swapping the MC and CC for the brim. It used approx. 40g (80m, 88yds) MC and 38g (76m, 83yds) CC.

Both hats were made from 1 skein each of the Spin DK, with approx. 12g Great Lake and 60g Peach Pistachio remaining after making the two hats and the pompom.

Yarn usage will vary depending on the design options chosen but as an approximate guide if you use the same MC throughout you need:

Child (Teen/Adult Small, Adult Medium/Large):
MC approx. 80 (110, 140) metres, 88 (120, 155) yards
CC approx. 40 (50, 60) metres, 44 (55, 65) yards
