I always knit my husband a new pair of slipper socks for Christmas and this year I’ve chosen pigs, one of our favourite creatures. We support a Yorkshire charity called Pigs in the Woods, which rescues abused and mistreated pigs and gives them a home in a 10acre woodland - hence the name.
The socks are fairly loose fitting and I will be sewing them onto slipper soles. They are knitted top down, with Fairisle colour work around the ankle. The rest of the sock is knitted in one main colour until the toe when there’s a band of piglets in colourwork followed by a shaped toe.
I’ve used a wool-nylon yarn for the main colour and pure wool 4ply for the colourwork.
