Pink Blueberries was first inspired by a playful, outgoing 5-year-old girl who loves color and stripes. It is an open lace scarf or wrap with a slip-stitch border; both stitch patterns are based on garter stitch. The finished product can be one color or two.

The playful child version shown is a narrow scarf knit in pink and red cotton (Patons Grace, 1 skein each color). The sophisticated adult version shown is a wide scarf or narrow-ish wrap in lace weight, blue tonal merino wool held doubled (Knit Picks Shadow, 2 hanks). This version is a 3-season garment; scrunch around your neck as a scarf in winter or open it up as a wrap in fall or spring.

Suggested materials are: US size 8 needles (straight or circular), one or two really long US size 2 circulars needles, four stitch markers (preferably one is different from the others), blocking materials.

Suggested gauge is 16 st by 16 rows = 4 inches in the center pattern stitch. However gauge is not so critical for this project for two reasons. (1) It is a scarf or wrap as opposed to a fitted garment so a little variance in size will not have a great effect. (2) Lace gives you a lot of freedom during blocking; open it up more or less for a larger or smaller finished product.
