To celebrate Malabrigo March, I am offering 20% off my self-published patterns made with Malabrigo yarns until the end of March 10 with the code MALMARCH20.

Pink Pirate is a crochet shawl worked side to side in rows starting from the top edge. Fun and cheery, the Polka Dots stitch pattern uses spike single crochet stitches, which break up the straight rows of color to create a beautiful polka-dot pattern.

This shawl is worked in two colors; if you’d like to have more fun with this project, you may use different colors for the Polka Dot rows or a color-gradient yarn to achieve the effect of more randomly colored dots.

MATERIALS

  • Yarn: Malabrigo Sock; light fingering / 3 ply; 440 yd (402 m) per 100 g skein; 100% merino wool
  • Hook: US E (3.5 mm)
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends

YARDAGE

  • 1 skein each in shades 857 Light of Love and 063 Natural

GAUGE

  • 1 PR (12 sts and 4 rows) = 2.5″ (6.35 cm) wide and 1″ (2.5 cm) tall

Gauge is not crucial for this design. The size of the shawl can be adjusted by making a shorter or longer base row.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
