Pattern Description

A jolly, jigging pirate pal with a pet ratty rat is just the toy to accompany your little seafarer on all his journeys in dreams, night or day. It’s simple to knit in fine and contrasting chunky yarn. Yo ho!

Yarn Requirements

  • Pirate--1 50g ball of Rowan Cashsoft 4-Ply in white
  • Hair--1 50 g ball of Rowan Cotton Rope in yellow
  • Sock detail--small amount of Rowan 4-Ply Soft in bright red, used double
  • Jersey--1 50g ball each of Rowan Cotton Rope in black and white
  • Breeches--1 50g ball of Rowan Denim in dark blue
  • Braces--scrap of medium weight yarn in turquoise
  • Belt--small amount of Rowan 4-Ply Soft in dark red
  • Buckle--small amount of Rowan Lurex Shimmer in gold
  • Boots-small amount of Rowan 4-Ply Cotton in black, and a scrap of 4-ply-weight yarn in pale blue
  • Hat--1 50g ball of Rowan Handknit Cotton in bright red, and leftover white yarn from doll
  • Eyepatch--use leftover black yarn from boots
  • Pirate’s Ratty--small amount of Rowan 4-Ply Soft in dark grey
  • Ratty’s Scarf--small amount of red yarn leftover from hat, and small amount of white leftover from pirate

Additional Materials

  • Scraps of white, blue and grey felt
  • Sewing thread to match grey felt
  • Stranded cotton embroidery thread in black, grey, and dusty rose pink for whiskers, eyes, noses and mouths
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • US F/5 (4mm) crochet hook
