This is the DK version of the Pirinoa Poncho, pictured in blue. There is also an aran weight (10 ply) version pictured in grey (see my store for the aran version).

This child’s poncho has been designed to fit a child from age 18 months up to 4 years.

It is knitted from the bottom up in pieces, joined at the shoulder and the hood is knitted in one.

The design features relaxed cables that do not add a lot to bulk or weight of the finished product. The hood has been designed to be relatively fitted so that it does not easily slip off an active child’s head.

Instructions for two button fastenings have been added to the pattern. You need 4 buttons, measuring 2cm/1.75” across.

The pattern comes with a chart for the cables but also contains written instructions for the same.

You will need two 80cm (24”) circular needles in the stated size(or to achieve gauge). You will also need a cable needle.

The yarn used has a meterage of 240m (262 yd) to 100g. You need approximately 220g to knit the poncho as shown.

The blue poncho shown is worn by a 2 yr old. The grey poncho in aran weight is worn by a 3 yr old.
