The bag is an easy little project. A quick little project. It is meant to use up the small leftovers of lovely wool yarn that would otherwise just lie around unused and overlooked.

It is knitted in garter stitch, and the construction makes it easy to think of the bag as a canvas where you can “draw” with yarn and yarn leftovers.

The brown bag shown uses less than 200 grams of yarn – and the same goes for the one in the Lego colours. They have simply been washed differently and have therefore ended up in different sizes.

The gauge makes it possible to hold several strands together and thereby use up even more leftovers. If the gauge is not exact, it does not really matter. It simply results in a slightly larger or slightly smaller bag. Since the bag is meant as an empty canvas, there are no instructions for the patterns on the bags shown. They were simply knitted based on the amount of yarn available in the different colours and qualities.

Both bags have been given a lining. There is no diagram for this, and with proper felting it is not really necessary. But you can add one if you feel it gives the bag something extra.

Knitathon?
Pia Trans from Misknits hosts a 24-hour online knitting club twice a year, where different knitters take turns entertaining on YouTube. This small stash-busting design can be knitted many times within 24 hours, meaning you can use up your leftover good yarn and at the same time end up with small gifts here and there.
