Pixelated Pullover is a contiguous set-in-sleeve sweater that has striking stranded color shifts flowing completely seamlessly from the top down, knit almost entirely in the round. The playful and flattering color work highlights the face and defines the figure. A perfect fit may be customized through the princess shaping.

  • SKILLS stranded knitting with two colors; reading charts; knitting in the round; knitting small circumference in the round; purling; increasing and decreasing; picking up sts

  • CONTIGUOUS Pixelated pullover is a sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down using the contiguous sleeve method developed by Susie Myers (SusieM on Ravelry.) The stranded color work is almost completely knit in the round.

  • SHAPING The princess darts will allow the knitter to customize the shaping for her figure. As with any sweater pattern, study the schematic to select your size and decide on modifications to the arm, waist or hip shaping. I recommend a couple of inches of ease at the waist. If your waist size is larger, you will work fewer waist shaping decreases, and then also fewer hip shaping increases. There is some extra hip shaping included in the pattern to account for the changes in fabric throughout the sweater (the stranded portions are thicker and less stretchy). For example, the hip measurement includes a bit of ease for the wearer to account for the stranded fabric around the hips. Some positive ease at the hips is recommend for a sweater that flows freely from the waist to the hips without bunching. It is very important that the knitter maintains a consistent gauge between the stranded and solid portions of the sweater.

  • COLOR When selecting your three colors, look for contrast between all three (particularly in weight--darkness to lightness). They will be contrasted in every possible combination. Also, consider “what effect will these colors have on you?” Color 1 frames the face. The other colors are going to highlight different areas of the figure. Heavier, deeper colors will recede; lighter brighter colors will pop forward.
