A Pixie – supernatural being in folklore and children’s stories, typically portrayed as small and humanlike in form, with pointed ears and a pointed hat.

The Pixie Balaclava is a warm, comfortable, and stretchy hood that fits snugly around the head and neck. The ribbed texture ensures a perfect fit, while the signature pointed crown adds a charming, playful touch.

The balaclava is worked from the bottom up. The neck section is knitted in the round in a rib pattern for a stretchy, close fit. At the transition to the head section, the work is continued flat. The head is worked in a combination of ribbing and stockinette/reverse stockinette to create the directional texture and shaping. After completing the head section, the piece is folded in half and joined at the top using Kitchener stitch to form the characteristic pointed crown.

The Pixie Balaclava is suitable for beginner knitters ready to explore more than a plain stockinette scarf.

UPDATE:
To start a head section for sizes 1—3 you should only bind off 2 stitches, no 4. I’m working on correcting the pattern.
