This stunning sock is described by ethnographer Lia Ģibiete as having a “knotty mesh pattern” - one of four categories she identifies for the very colorful and complex stranded stocking patterns knitted and worn by Suitu women. These socks are part of the National Costume from the region of Alsunga in the District of Kurzeme, Latvia.
