This is one of the “Sweater Variations” in the second half of the book, “The Sweater Workshop”. All the sweaters in the book start with the knitter determining her or his guage with chosen yarn and needle, and then doing some math to apply the percentages to the various parts of the sweater. A worksheet, called The Guage Page, is provided in the book. Based on that worksheet, sweaters can be made to custom fit any size and shape of body.

Like all the Sweater Variations, the instructions are very complete, and where necessary refer to previous sections of the book. The Variation patterns are intended for those who have completed a Sweater Sampler, and are, therefore, basically familiar with the elements of a bottom-up raglan sweater knitted in the round.

This Variation features a Henley style button placket at the neck, a classic sweatshirt pocket knitted in as part of the garment (as opposed to knitted separately and sewn on), and a hood with i-cord tie. There are multiple options for sleeve shape and decorative raglan decrease formats.
