The Plastron Calin by Brooknit Bonneterie is a warming, stylish cowl that extends to cover the top of the chest.

It’s a plastron made from a double string of yarn, which is quite thick and warm, and gives a nice hug to your neck and chest.

Why “Calin” - because it means “hug” in French, and that’s exactly what this plastron is: a warm hug for your upper body!

It was created for confirmed knitters.

It requires mastering the basics of knit and purl, shifting gears, and various techniques.

Techniques used are: Chinese Waitress Cast-On, knitting in the round and flat, ribs 2x2, seed stitches, cables, increases & decreases, icord edges, and bind-off.

Pick your favorite color, the one that goes with everything, or a special one that will stand out.

For knitters, it is an ideal project, just the right amount of challenges, and an attention seeker, while being quite fast to knit.

The pattern is written in a single size, starts knitted in the round, and then switches to flat knitting.

You will find the written instructions and access to quick videos to support your learning or refresh your skills.

The pattern and sizing are designed for Brooknit Bonneterie’s yarn (100% Merino superwash, worsted weight). Needles US size 10 / 6mm.

If you are using different yarn and needles, size may vary, and we recommend that you make a swatch to check and adjust to your desired sizing.
