This sock pattern won’t make your children play nice, but it will do wonders with your variegated sock yarn. Slipped stitches and a very simple cable pattern help show off that skein of colorful variegated sock yarn you just didn’t know what to do with.

Play Nice Socks are worked top down, and just to keep it interesting, the right and left sock mirror each other. The pattern is easy to memorize, making this a great project to knit on the go (or when you’re exhausted from your kids fighting all day). Both written directions and charts are provided.

Sizes: Small (Medium, Large) for a circumference of 7 (8, 9)” or 18 (20, 23) cm.

Gauge in pattern: 36 sts over 4” (10 cm) or 9 sts per inch while slightly stretched.

Gauge in stockinette: 29 sts over 4” (10 cm) or 7.25 sts per inch.

Skill Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. If you’ve already knit plain socks, this is a great next step.

Yarn: 325 - 450 yds (300 - 410 m) fingering weight yarn.

Errata: The previous version (sold between 5/19/2016 and 2/22/2017) had incorrect cable titles on the chart key. The cables were explained correctly, so it wasn’t a problem for most knitters. The newer version (sold between 2/23/2017 and present) has been corrected.
