Playing Card Suits square - includes all 4 symbols of playing cards, including a heart, club, spade & diamond placed into 4 quadrants on one square, however you can just use the individual suits for various projects by repeating those sections of the chart, as desired. Lots of possibilities! (I can picture a border around a larger blanket with all 4 suits repeated around the entire thing)

This pattern is for an overlay mosaic crochet square that can be used in other types of projects, such as blankets, pillows, satchel bags, table mats, etc.

Any yarn or hook will work, depending on the desired size of the finished square. I used yarn weight of 4 with a 5.5 hook, which creates a square of 13.5” x 13”.

You will need 2-3 colors of yarn - one for the background, another for the border & suits, and a 3rd color if you want different colors for the heart & diamond like in the sample squares. You could also do all the suits in the same color if you don’t want to do mid-row color switches.

This is a great way to use up scraps! For projects using all 3 colors, you will need approximately 2 oz of the background color, 1-1.5 oz for the border, spade & club, and then .75 - 1 oz of the color for the heart & diamond, when using a worsted or aran (wt 4) type of yarn.

Pattern is in US crochet terms.
