This shawl is the first in a collection based around playtime.

There are two sides to this. The patterns I’ve designed are inspired by my son’s play – but are also intended to be simple enough to knit while supervising the play!

The inspiration for this shawl is all about taking a towel, a tablecloth, a blanket – or a shawl, and seeing what it can be. A princess dress. A superhero cape. A scarf to wear in the snow. A blanket for a teddy bear. Part of a complicated fort structure combining the bookcase with sofa cushions and all the textiles you can find…

Playing Dressing Up is a crescent shaped shawl using a mix of stocking stitch and eyelets to create a beautiful drapey texture but requiring fairly minimal brainpower! The final shawl is pretty and perfect to keep your shoulders warm on a summer evening in the garden.

Whether or not you let a small child play with the finished item is entirely up to you!
