This pattern is designed for that beautiful variegated skein of yarn that called to you. It found a place in your stash but there just isn’t quite enough for a decent sized project. This project pairs that beautiful skein with a solid yarn. Play with the color combinations until you come up with something that really makes that beautiful skein shine even more.

Yarn requirements are 1 skein of a variegated yarn and 1 skein of a solid yarn of similar weight. I have used a couple of different yarn combinations, The purple shawl is 1 skein of Feederbrook Farm Entropy Dk in the colorway Nebula paired with 1 skein La Jolla from Baah (a fingering weight which was held doubled) in the color Winter Purple which is about 60” long and 12” deep at the widest part. In place of the La Jolla, I have also used Ultra Alpaca Fine (held doubled) and Green Line from Jaggerspun. The Pink Shawl is 1 skien of Elsabeth Lavold Hempathy and 1 skein of Tandem from Tahki. This is a smaller (total 260 yds.) and airier version that is great for summer.

The pattern itself is very simple garter stitch shawl with an asymmetrical triangle shape that curves ever so gently to drape well around your torso. Shaping is done with simple decreases (K2 together through the back) and simple increases (Knit into the front and back of the stitch). The pattern is easy to memorize. Yarns are carried up the sides and form part of the pattern edge. Length and size is adjustable to the quantity of yarn available. Adjust the needle size to fit the weight yarn you are using. Gauge is not important for the project.
