plein soleil starts at a single point and grows into an asymmetric triangle. It is shaped with a sideways construction that forms a crisp line by using some clever increasing and decreasing. You will work increases on both sides in every row and a central double decrease on right side rows. Once you reach the middle of the shawl, increases are only worked on one half of the shawl (on both right side and wrong side rows), no increases are worked on the other half. As you continue working the central double decrease, the total number of stitches stays the same.

The combination of textured slip stitch pattern bands and ribbing gives this shawl a sophisticated yet casual look.
