These earrings represent single and double blossoms of plum, peach and cherry trees with botanical accuracy. Peach, plum, and cherry trees are related species and so have very similar flowers. However, there are some differences: plum blossom petals are much more rounded than peach or cherry blossom petals, and cherry blossom petals have a notch in the top which makes them slightly heart-shaped.

Single and double blossoms for each of the three trees means this pattern contains 6 different (but related) earring designs.

The earrings are made with 12 wt sewing cotton (equivalent to size 40 crochet cotton) held together with a 40 wt metallic thread for sparkle. Each pair of earrings uses 4 yds for the stamens, and 16 yds for single petals or 45 yds for double (actually three rows) petals.

The finished flowers are about 1.5” diameter, with the plum blossoms being slightly smaller and the cherry blossoms slightly larger. I have included examples of smaller flowers made using thinner thread and hooks since plum and peach blossoms are closer to 1” diameter in real life.
