This axolotl is the perfect pocket friend and he loves to travel! He can fit in the palm of your hand or in your bag. He’s a quick knit, even though the frills require a little concentration.

The body is knit in one piece, but the frills and legs are attached at the end. Your gauge for this can be inexact as long as no stuffing is peeking through your stitches. If you’re really ambitious, you could try sizing him up for a cuddly friend or sizing him down for a delicate ornament by changing the yarn and needles together. As long as the fabric is not see-through, you should get an adorable axolotl.

This project is intended to be knit on a set of DPNS. If you use a circular needle, you will need some stitch markers to keep your place in the pattern.

Light Yarn: 25-30 yards
Dark Yarn: 4 yards

Note: Pattern is arranged so most images are at the end. If you wish to save ink and paper, you can print only pages 2-5 for the written pattern instructions.
