This pocket prayer cloth is a wonderful substitute for prayer shawls. It’s portable and can easily be tucked into a pocket; it’s ideal for children, men, and anyone else who wouldn’t ordinarily want to use a shawl!

The bobbles in this pattern create a cross image -- a great way to let the recipient know that they are in your prayers.

You can knit this pattern in one color, or you can use a different color for the bobbles so that the cross design really stands out.

You’ll need very little yarn to knit this pattern, which makes it an ideal scrap yarn project.

The large size is about the size of a crocheted 3-round granny square if you’re using worsted-weight yarn. The small size is about 3/4 that size. If you’re using fingering weight yarn, you’ll probably want to knit the large size, or else your cloth may resemble a postage stamp.

Gauge isn’t at all necessary for this pattern; just use whatever size needles are recommended for your yarn.

Acrylic, acrylic blends, wool, and wool blends are the best yarns for this project. I don’t recommend cotton unless you have very strong hands and sturdy metal needles…

Pattern includes a video that shows how to knit the bobbles in a different color than the background for a neat, clean appearance.
