A classic stranded cap, with an easy to follow pattern and chart.

The design is for a single stitch count (150), but could be made to fit a range of sizes by changing the needle size.

Needles: US 1.5 (2.5 mm) for ribbing and US 2.5 (3 mm) as the main needle for the stranded portion. I recommend using a long circular needle as your main needle, so that you can use magic loop and continue on the same needle to the end.

This hat fits to my eyebrows and over my ears. If you would like it less deep, or if you do not achieve the row gauge: there are several single row stripes on the bottom portion that could be eliminated, or if need be eliminate an entire stripe of the motif on the bottom portion. Or lean in and make it slouchy!

Yarn: Sport weight yarn in four colors. Requirements below are based on the sample shown not including the pompom:
MC 65 yds (59 m) 22 g - blue
CC1 52 yds (47 m) 17 g - pale blue
CC2 48 yds (44 m) 16 g - medium red
CC3 27 yds (25 m) 9 g - pink

Ewetopia’s Ridge Sport is a wonderfully soft 100% wool, raised, spun and dyed in Wisconsin. Ewetopia offers multiple colorways in mini-skein sets perfect for this project. The mini-skein sets are sufficient to make the hat and a generous pompom.

I worked hard on this pattern, but chose to make it available for free, and did not engage a tech editor. I would be grateful if you do find any errors, if you would let me know, so that I can correct the pattern!
