A shawl, from the Re/create collection, modern knits inspired by vintage textiles.

Point is a textured, woven-look shawl with a striped garter stitch edging reminiscent of and inspired by vintage Hudson’s Bay trade blankets.

The pattern features an elongated triangle shape, a simple and fun woven-look stitch pattern with no slipped stitches and no long purl rows, a striped garter stitch edging, and a small (optional) asymmetrical intarsia detail.

The pattern is offered with full written instructions and full charts; choose to follow whichever you prefer.

Although several yarn colours are used in the sample to “recreate” the vintage blanket look, you may use as many or as few colours as you prefer for a different striped effect. You’ll need about 100g of your main colour and 30 to 40g total of your contrasting colour(s). Size is completely customizable, however, so your yardage and the size of your finished shawl may vary.

The shawl was knit in Viola Sock. The body is knit in Ghost, the stripes are Flourite, Nosferatu, Curry and North Sea and the intarsia detail is Blot.

Point has been thoroughly tech edited and test knit.

Thank you to Andrea (littleknitmissy), Andrea (vineyardlady), Karina (karinamaza) and Uylond (uniquelyuylond) for test-knitting and to Akshata (Axta) for tech-editing.
