These socks represents a real lighthouse at the northern tip of the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea called the Point of Ayre. It’s a very beautiful and romantic spot with the striking landmark of a red and white striped lighthouse communicating with the northern Irish Sea between Belfast in Northern Ireland, the Mull of Galloway in Scotland and Whitehaven in the English Lake District.

I have been pondering how to turn the lighthouse into socks and in the end I decided to use the shape of the socks as a guide. The lighthouse is surrounded by an extensive gravel bank, so I have placed the water as the sole of the sock.

The instructions for this sock are given as a line-by-line written instruction with a wide range of measurements. The original sock pattern is for mid calf socks. An adaptation for extending the pattern to knee-high socks is also attached.

Enjoy!
