pointed collar
I love anything Victorian-esque and this pointed collar captures that perfectly. It’s really simple to make and can be finished in maybe an hour or two! For this one I used a linen yarn which is very light wearing and keeps its shape well.
Sizing:
6 points measured up to be about 45cm long and sits nicely between the shoulders. You are best off adjusting the size by allowing for a longer or shorter tie in the front.
Yarn:
I am always of the opinion that the chosen yarn is negotiable, but for this project you will definitely want a thinner yarn. Heavier yarns run the risk of not only being uncomfortable but also not keeping the pointed shape very well.
In any case I used Rowan’s Lenpur Linen in this amazing turquoise colour, which I fear is now discontinued, but should still be floating around the market. Go with a thin and light yarn - linen is recommended.
Needles:
3.75mm needles should allow for nice spacing between stitches to emphasise the lace pattern; experiment a bit between 3.5 and 4mm to see how you like the outcome. Of course needle size will also depend on how tightly you knit! If in doubt go with a bigger size to ensure you can see the lace pattern.
