Polish Roses Socks
This toe-up knitted socks pattern is a nice example of stranded colourwork. Intermediate level knitters should be fine with this pattern, but if you’re a beginner and want to challenge yourself, I’m always happy to help.
All you need to make these beautiful socks is wool, circular knitting
needles, needle to weave in the ends and scissors.
For my socks, I used 4ply merino wool and 2,5mm circular needles
(80 cm/32 inches long). You can also use smaller 2mm needles for
toe, heel and rib part of the sock.
I have designed this pattern in collaboration with Muzeum
Dziewiarstwa – The Knitting Museum to share traditional Polish
folk motifs with more people worldwide.
This motif is known as ‘róża cieszyńska’ and was a part of a
traditional folk costume of Cieszyn county in Poland.
