CONSTRUCTION
The Mittens are worked bottom up starting at the cuff with 20 rounds of 1x1 ribbing continued with the body of the mitt leaving an opening for the thumb and decreasing at the fingertips to
graft the remaining stitches. The pattern provides two versions for the tips: a grafted one and a more rounded one. Choose the one you like more and apply two both mittens. The thumb is knitted at the end in a somewhat similar fashion.

Sizing
The pattern offers two sizes. For women and for men.
Women’s: 18cm around the palm (7.1 inches)
Men’s: 22 cm around the palm (8 ¾ inches)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

9cm (3.5 inches), 11 cm (4.1 inches)
Length:
26cm (10.1 inches), 28cm (11 inches)
Finger Width:

MATERIALS:
Yarn: 2 Balls or (60 (80) grams) of Lanosso Bonito (50%Wool and 50% Acrylic. 100g=300m) or
any other yarn with similar yardage.
This yarn is just a recommendation. Since the pattern uses only a very little amount of both colors, you could make use of some leftover fingering or sport weight yarns from your stash. Rustic wool is the best option for colorwork but they are prone to felting if not washed correctly, so I went for this wool and acrylic blend because it is easier to care for, colors do not fade easily and that is actually what I had in my stash when I decided to write up the pattern for this design.
Background Color: Wine Red (1 skein).
Contrast Color: Mustard (1 skein).
Notions: 2 stitch markers to transfer and hold stitches for the thumb.
A tapestry needle to graft the stitches at the end.

NEEDLES: 2.5mm circular needles for magic loop or 5 DPNs

How to Knit Colorwork
There are different ways to hold the yarn as you do colorwork but whichever method you choose try to knit somewhat loosely
so that floats behind your work are not too tight. Loose knitting is not an issue when you knit from wool or wool blend
yarns as after blocking the fiber will stick to each other and the gaps will be filled.
In order to avoid tangling fingers/rings in your longer floats, I recommend catching yarn every 3rd stitch. This way your floats will be shorter.
