Pollen, Ragweed, Grass…OH MY!! I have allergies all year round but this year was especially difficult because of the added stress of the Covid-19 virus. Every wheeze, every sneeze and every cough sent me running for my thermometer. I needed a little distraction and a little tongue in cheek mini skein set from Forbidden Fiber Co was just the thing. Each color way had a fun name that inspired the stitches that I used in this cowl. I designed and knit the hat to match for fun! You’ll get both of these patterns together.

The cowl measures 21 inches in diameter and is 17 inches long.

The hat sizes are as follows:

Large-22-23 inches for the circumference and is 8.5 inches long
Extra Large is 24-25 inches for the circumference and is 8.5 inches long.

Required Yarn

For the cowl- 400 yards of fingering weight yarn in one color of five coordinating mini skeins or remnants of 80 yards each. The sample was knit using one set of “It’s Not the Rona, It’s Allergies” from Forbidden Fiber Co.

For The hat- approximately 128-140 yards of fingering weight yarn in one color or five coordinating mini skeins or remnants. The sample was knit using part of one set of “It’s Not the Rona, It’s Allergies” from the Forbidden Fiber Co. If you are using five colors you will need approximately 32-35 yards of color 1 and 24-27 yards of the remaining colors. You may need more or less due to differences in your knitting gauge.
