What started as a joke (pom de mer - pompom of the sea) turned into Pomme de Mer, a hat with a slip-stitch pattern resembling the textured carapace of a sea urchin (the actual meaning of the phrase) that just happens to be topped with a pompom. This DK-weight hat is fun to knit and cozy to wear, even if you’re nowhere near the sea.

What you’ll love about knitting this hat

  • Stitch pattern has been maximized for knitting - you’ll knit every other round yet end up with a delightfully textured hat
  • Stitch pattern is presented in both written and charted forms
  • Guidance for making the pompom removable is included

What you’ll love about wearing this hat

  • That texture
  • That pompom
  • That DK-weight yarn makes it a three-season hat
