I decided to create a hat that would work for any ponytail style. This hat has 3 holes down the back of the hat to accommodate multiple levels, and optionally you can add a fourth hole to the top of the hat. The pattern is very flexible, can be made with anywhere from four to zero holes, or it can just be a cable hat.
There are 3 different cable options to choose from.
This includes instructions for a folded brim, no brim, and can be customized to the number of openings you choose. See photos at the end of pattern.
In pattern 1 you will have to do the cable while purling for the rows with the hole. Please do not fear this, it is actually the same as knitting a cable, you just are doing the purl stitch instead of the knit stitch.
I used worsted weight yarn for all my samples and the hat will fit an average size head.
As always I am happy to answer any questions and fix any small typo’s I missed in my review and pattern testing.

Already had a question, this pattern can easily be made smaller for a child by doing 2 repeats of the cable section and reducing the cable repeats by 1 or 2. I am working on some smaller samples now and I will send more detailed instructions for the smaller version in an update coming soon. if you get the pattern now for free you will get updates!

Exercise Rating: This is a great small project to take on walks, I logged over 100,000 steps this week finishing the samples
Wine Rating: 1 Glass while working the cable portion, especially for the first time. The ribbing is boring so save that for when you have had more than 1.
