The Pool Mitts are close-fitting, light fingerless mitts, perfect for indoors in winter or for outdoors in the transitional seasons.

They are worked in a subtle rib pattern, which helps to keep a good fit. It is a very easy pattern that I learned from a lovely British lady by a pool in Dubai back in November 2019. I have since used this pattern on these mitts and on a shawl. Together, the mitts and the shawl make a beautiful set. I prefer my “sets” to not be too matchy-matchy, so I have made the mitts in this sophisticated sandy beige color, and the shawl in a light, dusty green.

It you want the subtle rib pattern to really show, I recommend choosing a solid color, not too dark – but you can of course use whichever color you prefer.

If you prefer closefitting mitts, I recommend 1-4 cm (0.4-1.6 inches) negative ease.
