Porthkerris Jacket
I’ve loved the look of a saddle shoulder for a while and finally gave it a go in my designing. Knitting from the top down from the two saddles there is no sewing together, just picking up and shaping as you go to create this edge to edge jacket (so no button holes either or tricky matching up of buttons).
Designed to be an oversized fit you can choose to go as big as you want as the measurements are the finished sizes.
Perfect for a beginner wanting a challenge you’ll need to be able to cast on and off, knit, purl and pick up stitches. The shaping uses wrap and turn which is fully described.
Materials
5mm circular needles - 80cm and 40cm
5mm double pointed needles or small circulars for the sleeves
Four stitch holders (one capable of holding 100 stitches)
Four stitch markers
Yarn
I have used James C Brett Croftland Aran which is 20% wool 80% acrylic in generous 200g balls that gives 390 meters / 426 yards each.
795 910, 1020, 1140, 1250 meters
870 995, 1115, 1245, 1370 yards
3 3, 3, 3, 4 balls
To follow my colour way 390 meters / 426 yards of your total meterage/yardage should be your contrast colour.
Please note size 5 you use a small amount of the 5th ball
