The 2023 Pot Holders Galore Crochet Along by This Pixie Creates is a year-long crochet along running from January 27 - December 31, 2023, that features 12 pot holder designs (1 pot holder for each month of the year).

Each pot holder uses cotton yarn, less than 300 yds of yarn, and works up in a few hours. This is a great way to use yarn from your stash, play with texture, and make something that you or someone you love, can use in the kitchen. Pot holders really come in handy!

The ad-free printable PDF is $12 for all 12 patterns. Each month (January - December), a new pattern will be available to download (you’ll receive an email notification when it’s released). As a special thank you for purchasing an ebook/ad-free PDF on Ravelry, there will be a bonus pot holder pattern included in your order (released on December 1st with the last pot holder)

If you’d like to be notified when each pattern is released, you can join the 2023 Crochet Along Email List HERE.

This listing is for the premium ad-free PDF version of the pattern. You can find the free patterns on my blog (linked below) with ads, or the complete video tutorial for each section on YouTube - it’s the exact same pattern, but if you buy the PDF you get a nicely formatted, printable, ad-free pattern, and support a small business.

This is an annual crochet-along, so we have now started the 2024 Potholders Galore Crochet-along, which runs from July 10 - December 11, 2024. You can learn more about it here!

Skill level: Intermediate, but there are step-by-step pictures, and complete video tutorials, so adventurous beginners are encouraged to try!

If you’ve mastered the chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet, then I think you’ll enjoy this CAL.

Sizes: The pot holders range in size from 7.5” - 9.5” in length and width, and will be specified in each pattern.

Gauge: The gauge changes depending on the pattern. Therefore, a gauge will be included with each specific pattern.

Materials:

  • 4.0mm and/or 5.0mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch Marker or Safety Pin
  • Yarn: All pot holders are crocheted with either Knit Picks Dishie Cotton Yarn or I Love this Cotton! yarn.

You can use any soft and flexible Medium 4 Worsted / Aran weight cotton yarn.

If you only have DK Weight 3 yarn on hand, then you can crochet with 2 strands held together to create a weight 4 thickness.

Acrylic or other fibers are not recommended for these pot holders because they will burn/melt under excessive heat. 100% cotton is the safest material to use for pot holders.

Pot Holder Construction:
Each pot holder pattern is constructed in one of four ways. No matter the construction, each pot holder will be double thick:

  1. Crocheted as a circle in the round. We will make 2 identical circle pieces, and crochet them together.

  2. Crocheted as a large square in the round, with the corners folded in the back.

  3. Crocheted as a pouch in the round, then seamed closed at the top.

  4. Crocheted as two or more shapes that are seamed together.
