Potholder Amelie
The “Amélie” model kitchen pot holders are the union of modern design and functionality. By following this pattern you will not only obtain an object with a thick consistency (useful when talking about potholders), but also beautiful to look at in your kitchen… or why not, a gift for someone who will surely appreciate it!
I just want to give you some advice and give you a little introduction on the scheme you are going to follow. First of all, I strongly advise you against using synthetic materials for this model, as using them near the stove would risk burning them easily. Instead, choose natural materials such as cotton (for example, I used 100% recycled cotton).
Even when it comes to colours, make a conscious choice, for example avoid white, or in any case very very light colours, as we know that stains are always around the corner in the kitchen!
The Amèlie pot holder is mainly composed of two panels joined together, one with the patterned pattern, and the other a smooth surface made with a variant of the single crochet, called “thermal single crochet”, which will give the thick consistency you talked about before . Once the two panels have been joined, all you have to do is create the hook, and if you want to give a more personal touch, add a label.
Finally, if you want to create your own set and have little time to knit all your potholders with the patterned pattern, it might be a nice idea to make one or more using only the thermal low knit panel pattern.
Having finished the introduction I wish you a good knitting!
