The PRAIRIE PLAINS TOQUE pattern is just a simple recipe that I have used for years. It works well with one or double pompoms, or ‘beanie’ style without any pompom.

Instructions for 5 sizes: 0-6 month, 6-12 month, Toddler (1-3yr), Child (4-8yr), and Adult

SKILL LEVEL:

Pattern is written in English with Standard American Terms.
Stitches Used: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Knit 2 together.
Materials: 8mm and 9mm circular knitting needles (or size needed to reach gauge), stitch marker, 35-65 yards of Lionbrand Wool Ease Thick & Quick, Malabrigo Rasta or any similar Super Bulky weight #6 yarn. Pompom and tags optional.

If you are a tight knitter, then 10mm circular needles are recommended for the body of the pattern. I also use this exact pattern for stripes and block print styles (see pictures) in a ‘choose your own adventure’ kind-of-way.
