This long, skinny scarf is perfect for a beginner. It requires that you work in the back loop only (blo), which makes the boring all SC project be a little less monotonous. Working in thd blo is what gives the scarf the ridges, but If you do not enjoy working in the blo, you can just work all the SC stitches in both loops.
You have the option of lengthening or shortening this scarf just by adding or leaving off rows.

It is a little tricky trying to hide the woven in ends at the ends of the rows where the color changes. Just pay attention to that.

I recommend with this and any other crochet project that you use a fabric glue or OK To Wash It to secure the woven ends and keep them from coming out. This is especially important when you are working a loose st pattern (such as open lace) or if you are naturally a loose crocheter! Looser stitches make a much softer project! So that’s good!
