I found the Big Twist Living yarn and loved it. I bought it in hopes of using it for planned pooling. After much trial and error, I admitted the yarn does not pool. It was time to pivot. What should I make out of my trans flag yarn? I could not get the idea of a pride bucket hat out of my head – even though I’m not a bucket hat person myself.

After trying to adapt the Hobbi Jazzy Bucket Hat with no success due to different yarn weights and stretch, I decided this yarn needed its own dedicated pattern. After posting my hat on TikTok, it took literally one person asking for the pattern for me to make it.

I grabbed 1 skein of Big Twist Living Yarn and the recommended hook size (4.5mm). I chose the color “Life” but any color would work for this pattern.
