The Pride Progress Flag combines the familiar rainbow flag with a chevron of five colors representing marginalized people of color, trans people, and those living with or lost to HIV/AIDS. This shawl is inspired by the flag, but not a direct representation; it’s made to be worn, not waved. Wear it to a Pride event or wear it with pride anywhere you want a glorious sweep of color that also states your principles.

It’s a relatively simple knit, all garter stitch with German short rows to shape it.

Gauge is not terribly important except that if your gauge is too loose you might need some extra yarn - my gauge was very loose (14 sts over 4”!) because I used superwash yarn (which stretches when wet) and blocked aggressively. I do have a suggestion of how to eke out a little extra yardage if you’re afraid you’ll run out of a color.

Note: This free pattern has not been tested (because I really wanted to get it out during Pride Month this year!) Feedback is welcomed.
