Monsters make great house guests and even better gifts. They are fun to knit and are very customizable. Make yours unique by adding three arms or four legs. Special buttons can give your creatures distinctive facial expressions. Ribbons or lace give them unique personalities. Since this is my first official monster pattern I’m naming it Primum Monstrum (Latin for First Monster).

Note about yarn: DK or Bulky Fun Fur yarn work best for this pattern. Orange monsters were made using Vixen yarn.

BO: Bind off
CO: Cast off
Dpns: Double pointed needles
K2tog: Knit two stitches together
KFB: Knit front stitch as normal, leave on needle, make second stitch by knitting into back loop
PU: Pick up stitch
SSK: Slip two stitches knitwise, transfer back to left needle, knit together
STS: Stitches
