While in Finland there’s still winter, in Italy we feel the first gentle wind of spring, and we see the nature come alive again. Plum trees are something that do survive and even make fruit in Southern Finland, but not where I lived. Here it’s one of the first trees that bloom in spring. The flowers come out while the leaves are still hiding and there’s no green in sight. Later at the end of summer we can pick the plums matured under the sun.

Prugna top is knit seamlessly top down. The v-neck front is plain in stockinette stitch, while the beautiful lace panel runs down the center back. The lace is inspired by the plum leaves and fruits. My sample is knit using 100 % raw silk which makes lovely garments that keep you warm in cool weather and cool in high temperatures.

Metrage is estimated for the tee made exactly as written with sample yarn and includes extra yarn for swatching. Please note that your yarn consumption will depend on yarn choice, gauge, the length of your finished garment and any other alterations you might make to the pattern.

Gauge
23.5 sts x 31 rnds = 10 cm /4” with
3 mm (US 2.5) needles in both in Prugna lace and stockinette st in the round after blocking.

NOTE that the sample uses sport weight yarn. DK-weight yarn might give the right gauge, but the resulting fabric might have no drape and the lace might get stiff. Make sure to swatch carefully.

Needles
3 mm (US 2.5) – 60 – 100 cm / 24 – 40” circular needles, or as required to obtain gauge.
2.75 mm (US 2) needles for the edges.
If preferred, DPNs or short circulars for small circumference knitting.

Notions
3 st markers, 1 removable marker, cable needle, 2 st holders / spare cables or scrap yarn, spare needle (can be smaller than gauge needle), tapestry needle.

The pattern is both charted and written.
The pattern has been professionally tech edited and it has been test knit.
