This is a fairly snug-fitting beanie with puffins bobbing all around it on a gentle sea - I knitted it using Jamieson & Smith Shetland wool which is jumper-weight and equivalent to four-ply. I knitted on 2.5mm circular needles, but if you want a more relaxed fit, you could size up to 2.75mm or 3mm, and add a few extra rows in the sea or the stripes.

There are quite a lot of different colours in the chart (seven! although you could choose to double up one of the blue shades), and it can all become a bit hectic. One option would be to do the beak all one colour and then embroider over the top at the end. It would be a great project for using up some odds and ends of wool, as you really don’t need much of each colour (I was working from 25g balls and had plenty left in each colour!).
